Butterfly Cabinet
The client for the Butterfly Cabinet contacted Alex after seeing the Fly-Tox lamp and wanted a unique version of this for their home.
This piece had extra significance to the owner as they asked for a specific poem in memory of their beloved family pet be stamped into the bulb holder. The butterflies were a mix of 2 varieties including one large Papilio Anchisiades that swarm around a vintage style filament bulb.
The case was made in scale to match another at the house but with a character of its own. By applying a burned iron finish the frame contrasted with the glass inlays and lit butterflies.
