Tackle Block Lamp

Tackle Block Lamp

The Tackle Block Lamps are made using ancient wooden triple blocks found in Plymouth.

The blocks came off a Tall Ship and were most likely used to hoist/lower sails and keep the mast and beams tensioned.

The workmanship that went into creating these blocks is quite remarkable. The tackle would be formed in hand-carved sections and then sandwiched together. These blocks would have been under immense pressure almost constantly, they really did hold the ship together.
